Darwin Airport

Darwin airport is a very modern smaller airport. What do we say - it's small and an international airport. Therefore the hustle and bustle is taken out of flying here.

Due to security reason we offer very limited photos and all the photos provided here are for the sole benefit our travelling client's to find or leave the airport with ease late at night or day and to park.

Checkin early - immigration and security can slow you down a bit with their checks. The airport has one main building with all the airlines at one long counter. Then you proceed upstairs via elevator or escalator to depart from 4 main gates.

The Qantas Club is smaller than normal as per Melbourne's but the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. There is a bar upstairs and a coffee shop and a fast food eatery. There is also a news agency and Travelex (Currency Exchange).

As you drive up from McMillans Road the drive is around 3klm from lush vegetation. Then as in the photo left the road spilts into 2. For those of our clients wishing to park you will take the right fork in the road to the car park.

As of a few months ago there is a new dropoff entrance. Those folks who have been here before you can't drive up to the main building anymore.

There is a 3 minute vehicle dropoff area as the picture left shows around 100 metres from the main buiding. So grab your luggage and say your goodbyes and oh there are trolleys at the main office you just have to often go there first to get a luggage trolley. It only takes a few minutes. Darwin Airport - Walk thru and at the top is the Airport Main doors there are 2 doors about 100 meters apart from each other. This is the walk from the dropoff area and main car park to the main terminal. Rule 1. to all our valued clients don't forget your passport and airline tickets. Asl it pays to be earlier instead of on time as sometime there is a small queue to contend with.

To the city you can obviously selfdrive but those folks requiring transport there are 4 main choices. (Don't try walking it and don't hitch a ride to our young clients/travellers)

Darwin Airport Private Hire Cars, Taxi and Airport Shuttle Bus

To the city you can take a airport shuttle bus.

• The shuttle bus service operates daily between Darwin International Airport and Darwin city accommodation which is app 12klm away.
• Family and group booking prices available. Ph: 1800 358 945 for use within Northern Territory
• Remember the shuttle has to fill or wait for all folks wishing to go before leaving - if your in a hurry this may not suit you.

• You will see by the link above that the bus does NOT stop at the airport but goes past the turn off road you will see int he photo below.

You stop and take a entry tag showing you the time you arrived and the gates open to let you in to park.

The car park is full on rare occassions and if raining take an umbrella as there is no cover from the park to the terminal walk thru.

Leaving Darwin Airport

Just after this sign you come to traffic lights. left is to the city of Darwin 15min away and right is to berrimah. Turing right will be the shortest way to Britz, Maui and Kea 4wd Camper and Motorhome rental depots. From then tavel past northlakes shopping centre and about 5klm along turn right into Amy Johnson Road and then travellin 5klm and trun right into Stuart Hightway. From here refer to the map for the different rental depots.

It is $27.00 Taxi ride late at night on weekends to the city and around $22 during the day and the city centre is around 15 minutes drive.
