The
Sue Wah Chin Building is a single storey building divided
into five commercial premises.
Situated
along Cavenagh street just after knuckey street intersection
it is a darwin heritage icon. As this was wrtten there
are still some shops such as a tropgphy shop, clothes
alteration shop and clothes shop. With it's known close
associations with the Darwin Chin family and their poineering
spirit in the territory.
This
stone building, built around the 1880s, is the only
building associated with Darwin’s nineteenth century
‘Chinatown’ which still survives. It is also one of
only a few 19th century buildings that survive in the
Darwin City Centre.
