Magpie Geese in Darwin

Magpie Geese

We say - The only known bird species that can read the news.

That's right we reckon they saw this notice.

Notice: The '2007 waterfowl hunting season declared open at
>>>>> 6.10 am on Monday, 3 September 2007 and closes at 7.40 pm on Sunday, 30 December 2007.

Yep that's right - On September 2nd 2007 they all seemed to fly into the Darwin suburbs late that night and have 'Hung Out' with us city folk while the hunters go gunning for them elsewhere. Pretty smart birds hey'

Magpie Geese - Hey is that a walking stick that bloke has or what better keep low anyway. This lot were just 500m from our house at the Marrara Football Oval on McMillans Road Marrara, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

Just leave me alone please

They reckon this poor little bloke tastes great - What was it now that recipe - hmmm that was splitting him open and him throwing some hot coals in the ground with a bit of salt and pepper sprinkled on him and then turn him slowly.

That is surely a look of disgust on his face. Scott G. This is for you.

We at Tropical Darwin are conservationists so we enjoy their company whilst they are here.

On that list we saw Magpie Geese, Pacific Black Duck, Wandering Whistle Duck (or Water Whistle Duck), Plumed Whistle Duck (or Grass Whistle Duck), Grey Teal, Pink-eared Duck, Hardhead Duck (or White-eyed Duck) and Maned Duck (or Wood Duck).
